Fresh Encounter, Inc. began in 1995, when Mike Needler and his family purchased CWC Companies, a retail grocery chain that was founded in 1964. In 1998, Fresh Encounter, Inc. expanded dramatically with the acquisition of Fulmer Supermarkets, another retail grocery chain, originally founded in 1909. Today, Fresh Encounter, Inc. operates stores throughout Ohio and eastern Indiana under a variety of banners. In addition to a family of community markets, Fresh Encounter, Inc. operates its refrigeration company, Progressive Refrigeration.

Progressive Refrigeration
Progressive Refrigeration is geographically divided into two divisions serving the stores and attracting outside clients. They are always ready to respond to the needs of the retail community they serve.

Continental Distributing
Even though Fresh Encounter, Inc. is supplied by an outside source, Continental Distributing was established to assist the stores with product and supply distribution. Continental Distributing serves the company by moving product and supplies from the corporate warehouse to the stores, from one store to another, distributing the weekly advertising inserts and any other transportation services needed.
